Question

I have decided to do a track day at short notice ( this sun)

I have not got time to change the oil, so had planned to get some semi synthetic, as advised to maintain levels.

However, the man in the shop advised me not to mix oils. I cannot be sure that there is semi synthetic in there already, although I would certainly hope there to be. What damage could I do if I did top up with semi, and it just has cheap stuff in there??

ooops maybe this would be better in drivetrain

Cheers, Amanda

The answer is that if the grades are of the correct type there will be no damage
You have to understand that "Semi" is a mix of synthetic and mineral oil, if your running a mineral oil then its going to gain some of the properties of a semi but the difference is virtually zero.
All i would do at the end of the track day is change your oil and oil filter, then top up with the best available fully sythetic.

Cheers Tony

He'd obviously got his facts a little wrong, thought it seemed strange

I'm going in my 205 as currently Scoobless to pay for rallying this little thing

Cant imagine what it will be like being beared down upon by all the big boys...it will be my first time
