I have a 95 Legacy GT Twin Turbo Estate which has starting problems. Fine when cold or if left for up to 5 minutes but when left for 30+ minutes it simply won’t start, very inconvenient !

I have read several threads and believe it is probably the crank or cam positioning sensor. I want to check the error codes stored in the ECU to see if it agrees but do not know how to do it, can anyone help? I know you connect some wires under the dash but how do I identify which ones and what connectors do I connect? Also how do I clear / do a reset of the ECU?

Also can error codes be stored without the ECL (engine check light) being on? I thought as soon as a code was detected and stored the ECL would come on until the codes were cleared?

If it is the positioning sensor how much are they and will a UK spec Impreza fit?

Many thanks in anticipation?
