Hi, can someone tell me whether a 1998 Jap import STI would be 4-wheel drive or rear wheel drive??

4-wheel drive only, i dont think they did any Turbo cars in 2-wheel drive.

Ahhh just had a thought, some versions you can alter the diff so that all the power goes to the rear wheels.but its not advisable to leave it on that setting for normal road use.
