Can I take a set of dials out of an STI and put them in a UK Turbo?
I know the STI clocks go up to 180 whilst the UK's only go up to 160, is it just a matter of plug em in and off you go......or will something have to be done to get the clocks to read the correct mph?

Question

erm if u mean the workings behind the actual face then yes it probably wood work as i stuffed a couple of rev dials doing white dial thing on me MY97 & 1st un wos from a UK car but i killed it again 2nd time round (those breakers luv me ) i tried installing b4 hand & noticed the actual face didnt sit behind the clear thing properly which i believe is bkuz the rev & speedo r other way round on import. So er 2b honest i cant guarantee wot will fit wot but i was changing face over 2 white anyway so the workings still reved 2 same amount so it worked 4 me but i guess it depends which year yer looking at & exactly wot it is yer seeking? Wot have u dun?

Or you could just get a MY03 WRX.

Do the STI's not have different (lower) gear ratios?? and would this not make the speedo over-read??

BTW did anyone with a Jap import hang onto their old dials?? I'm looking for a set.

You can easily change the speedo sender unit (forgot what its called, its too early in the morning for me) on the gearbox itself. I did this with my MY93 when I put a UK gearbox in it.

When you get a cup of coffee into you could you please post a quick "How to"... I am shortly to put 4.1 diffs in and was wondering about how I would re-calibrate the speedo...

Thanks, Alex.

Its easier to change the sppedo drive gearing when the gearbox is out mate. Its where you stick the speedo cable in and I think there's not much holding it in and should come out easily. The difficult bit is getting the gearbox out. Me and my friend can get the gearbox out easily but its really time consuming and its not cheap. You've got to get new geabox oil every time you remove the box and attempting to skimp this bit always ends up as a dissaster. It takes days for the smell to get out of your hair.
