On the MY 2000 Turbo (mileage 15k) the Engine misfire was traced to faulty plugs. Only mods are - de-cattted, scooby mania b/b, K&N High flow air filter.
The PFR6B plugs looked very overheated. New plugs cured misfire for 1 week. I've been advised to fit PFR7B's as fitted to WRX's. Apparently they will put up with more heat. I'm worried that if the engine is now producing enough heat to destroy plugs, what's happening to valve seats and such.
Has anyone else experienced similar problems after de-catting the chimney?
Jeff.

What fuel's it been running on? And are the new plugs also fouled?
How's the idle?

Running on Shell Optimax. Changed exhaust 1 year 8k miles ago with no problems til last month. Plugs changed and all ok for 300 miles then misfire returned. Just about to put the PFR7B's in but need more info on implications. Wondering if something electrical is causing the plugs to overheat. There is nothing showing up as faulty on main dealers' computor. Can you help?

nom,
Should say that the idle is quite high when cold of late. Fine at all other times.

PFR7B's will be fine, the '6's are intended for the std setup hence they overheat but that doesn't mean the engine has. Change asap though as misfiring like that is not healthy. Gap to 0.7mm.
