Hag my '97 import STi Dyno'd at the W/E - figures were higher than expected (298bhp 270lbft) - The chaps at power-engineering suggestd it possible has a link ECU fitted.(also runs 1.35 bar mx boost)
How do I check if it has - where do I look - what am I looking for??

Remove the front passenger carpet in the footwell, undo 4 screws, remove the metal lid and the ECU is hiding in there underneath

Well - now I'm really confused - no sign of any jiggery pokery in the ECU dept - all looked completely standard.
I know where the additional POWER is coming from (hit 1.4 bar today - nice cold air ) but anyone got any ideas as to what may have been tinkered with??
BTW no signs of bleed valve type devices - standard STi exhaust, actuator doesn't look like aftermarket item or that it may have been adjusted - anyway I'm guessing on the Scooby the ECU would compensate if you simply wound a bit more actuator spring tension in??

If a Link has been fitted the standard ECU box remains, only the board is swapped on these. If you open the lid of the ECU box you would be able to tell for sure...standard ECU is JECS, a Possum Link would have that written on the circuit board...

Ahh that makes a little more sense - the ECU box had a different serial number from the one on the the board - dammit though I didn't check for manufacture - I'll ave to ave it apart again!

Why has no one suggested looking under the bonnet??
If you have a look at your Air filter is there a MAF sensor bolted to it??
IIRC LINK does away with the MAF as it uses MAP signals..???

You can still leave the MAF sensor at the inlet...the only way to be sure is to:
a, open up the ecu box.
b, try to start it without waiting 5 secs with ignition on.
I'd say you would know if U had a link in it.
Open up the box and make sure.
