as dumpvalves are getting a bit common these days with even diesels driving around with the trademark woosh i took the standard recirc off and blocked the 3 pipes attached to it. This had the desired affect of the chatter when i come off boost, however its not as loud as i would have hoped. Any advice to get more of a sound, have an induction kit and exhaust, someone said an up pipe would increase it?

ideas/suggestions?

yeah lol i was thinkin the sensible answer would be more boost and hence a larger turbo. Ah well sounds different anyway, not like all them dumpvalves

Up-pipe will probably make a difference, release the noise more, but only a little. What I think what barge was getting at is that blocking the dumpvalve pipework means that you'll get pressure build up when you shut the throttle, resulting in stalling the turbo. This will shorten turbo life by a massive amount.

theres no way in hell that the pissy little pipes to the oem dumpvalve can vent 11-16 pounds of boost anyway, so youre gonna get pressure bouncing back into the turbine whatever. Im not a big fan of bovs as my m8 has a tuned cossie with nearly 500 bhp. He used to run a bov, when he blocked the pipes like this he gained 11 psi of boost because the dumpvalve was ****ing up the system, hes run it at that power with the pipes blocked for a year with no problems. 44 psi now too

dont see why an up-pipe would make any difference? after all, the noise you hear is reversing out of the induction system and filter, and not on the exhaust side.

noise level will depend on the boost you run too, at 1.8bar, it is very loud!
also, turbo type, my TD05 is not near as loud as the VF12 due to the larger and hence heavier turbine wheel

Fit a FMIC, I have the Pace on mine coupled with an HKS induction setup and w/o a BOV fitted the wgate chatters away nicely. Dare i say amplified between the induction and alloy FMIC pipes.
