Are there any guidelines regarding warming up / cooling down before and after hard driving? Obviously the car shouldn't be revved hard until its up to temp, but what about cooling? Should I just leave it running for a minute or two before switching off?

Personally, for the last couple of miles of a journey, i keep the car off boost, then leave it for 30 seconds on my drive. After a more spirited drive, or long motorway trip, i let it tick for 2-3 minutes.

Hi
Warming up i leave mine get halfway on the needle b4 starting to go above the 2,500rpm,but on cooling down the turbo timer i have over the last fews weeks since cooler weather has been showing 1.5minutes even after slowing it up over the last cuple of miles. So you never can tell, might pay to get a timer if you are that concerned about your turbo

You will be surprised how long it takes to get the oil up to full working temperature, especially at this time of year.
I stay at 2500rpm max for the first 3mls or so and then 3000max until oil is at 80 cent. On a very cold day in urban traffic sometimes the oil is still in the 70's after a 20ml commute.
Keep it off boost for the last couple of miles and shut down normally but if driven hard prior to parking tick over for two mins.

Remember that it takes around 5 minutes (not freezing uk winters) after the water temperature has reached normal operating temperature for the oil to reach NOT.

Its suprising how long the oil takes to warm up, since fitting Defi's I now wait till the temp gauge hits at least 80-85 degrees before running on boost, can take 10-20 mins depending on weather conditions....
