Just fitted one to the car (94 wrx) and the instructions make reference to fitting a 'cold air hose'. Is this really necessary as the filter is situated right next to the original cold feed hose in the wing?

It also mentions something about re-oiling it..? how and why spring to mind.

Thanks in advance

Thumbs up

When I fitted mine to my MY98 the instructions said to leave the original air box in place which I did although some people do remove them.

As for re-oiling, this only has to be done after you clean the filter which shouldn't be very often unless you are driving in very dusty conditions.

Just a word of advice - if you do ever have to clean the filter then use the proper K&N Filter cleaning kit which also comes with the oil to re-oil it. Never use petrol or any other detergents as these may damage the gauze.

Hope that helps

Gavin
