Can any help a friend of mine?
He was driving his MY64 wrx this morning when he notiv=ced the check engine light was on, and that the speedo had stopped working.
He checked under the bonnect, all seemed to be ok.

Could the problem be due to the speedo cable or something?

Thanks

Very likely the speedo. Trace it from the gearbox.

just had exactly the same problem, the cable had become disconnected from a little alloy box situated just above the speedo drive on the gearbox, connected the speedo back and hey presto

the 94 rex has a mechanical speedo and might have come loose from the socket.
above the brake pedal youll see a cable coming in from the engine bay thats got to plug into the speedo socket on the back of the clocks.kneel out side the car and reach up with your left hand into a very small hole to the left of the steering wheel have a feel about and your find the plug if its still connected give it a push to make sure its sitting right. if its not connected plug it in
