Unhappy

i have a 93/4 wrx wagon import.
the fans are constantly engaged and the check engine light is on.
we have replaced the thermostat- no joy - the problem persists.
the fans and the radiator have both been replaced also.
anyone had this problem at all? any bright ideas, as the car is not getting to temprature as quick as it should and is very difficult to start in the mornings - help!

cheers

Lightbulb

your car sounds like its in limp home mode(sensor fault somewhere)

disconnect your battery for 15 mins then reconnect it, that may sort things out

When mine did this it turned out to be the cylinder head gasket had gone.
You can usually tell because the heater doesn't tend to blow hot air and of course you will have a low overflow bottle, or even a low expansion bottle level.

jon i think you are right, it is in limp home mode, however i need to know what may have caused it. will try the reset though thanks.

sheepsplitter- the car has no problems blasting out the heat and the coolant levels are constant.

thank you both very much.

something a simple as a bad tank of fuel could have caused it!

usally when both fans run all the time it's the temp sensor thats at fault. it goes in to limp home mode with a temp of 80c as a default temp this could be why it's hard to start as there will be no choke.

Wink

Just watch it as the reason it occurred might still be there...

Might go into limp mode again..

Try this site for reseting ECU and fault codes

http://www.saxonfields.freeserve.co....iag%20Page.htm

If it returns..

Hopefully that is the last of it though
