Has anyone replaced coils with Bosch's
#1
I go the new Bosch Mec Coils and new Ngk Pluggs with the Fixed heads all I need now are the correct Leads. I bought some ****e form Halfords Lemark Hotwirs but they dont fit snuggly. Im wondering if the Bosch Heatsheilded ones would do the Job although they too dont fit snuggly surely they would be ok. Because I had to cut the oe coil off I had to use an old Vauxhaul bosch lead from the coil to the plug. Already I noticed a difference, mind you the OE coil was real facked the plug end of it had completely snapped off and the spring came flying out. THAT was the first coil, I havent done the others becasue I need good leads that will fit snug. Anyone any ideas ???

I still havent done it yet, but just get a set of Subaru leads from a Pre MY00 car( get the ones from a car with the coil pack in centre of the manifold ). They can be shortened to lentgh if need be, although they may be fine as they are, depending on where you locate the coils. That way it will all fit together perfectly, and no crappy halfords nits.

It didnt matter what gear I was in, whenever I got between 4-5K rpm the car would splutter. If i was accelerating hard then the Splutter would be quite violent, if it was gradual acceleration then the splutter was more like a flat spot. I will post up what the coils looked like to give you a good idea why this was happening. If you have any rubbers perished on the end of the coils then it wont be long before coils crack and go the same way as mine, the other two coil rubbers were fine meaning the coils themselves were fine too. To avoid disapointment before buying from Oz check your coils/Rubbers yourself.

They are billing me for £77 ( I bought 16 coils btw, and will be using all of them now. ). The have tried to charge me duty+vat on the total price of the parcel, and twice for freight. Ive mailed em telling them, to sort it out, or they will be paid nothing. The total cost to me was £286, which inlcuded postage. They have charged me duty on the £286, + £42 postage.. They just seem to make it up as they go along to get money of us. Not a chance.

Can confirm that after fitting the coils, they are an improvement. No noticeable power increase, but definately smoother running, throughout the rev range, with possibly slight improvements top end. Still only one night of driving with them on, so hopefully it will show more improvements the more its driven.
I will be fitting them to another car soon, and also to my own subaru, once I get some leads.

Aye, so two of the four OE coils were wrecked! Plastic nipple end of the coil had cracked and broken off completely !! Causeing serious arc-ing. Replacing the cois was fairly easy the only pain was placing them. Im not 100% happy with the placing of them cable ties etc but I was 200% happy with the results. No power gains of any sort just lovely uninterupted range through the revs. No more hesitation at 4-5K revs, at last !!
At £15 a coil and £25 for postage its the best money ive spent on the car yet. I eventually got the bosch Leads for £20, they are a wee bit flimsy and im guessing that if the hard plastic housing of the OE coils had gone as bad as they did then the flimsy-ish rubber that houses the plug head wont last either but I dont give a fack at the moment because ive got my car running the way its meant to!!
I havet checked all the goings on of the upcoming scoobynet shop but These bosch coils would definately fly off the shelves if you could strike a deal with ingram in OZ. Just have a look at the ammount of Hesitation posts there are !
