Just a question about the above, to expand my knowledge

Firstly - what is an 'organic' clutch? How does this differ from standard? Is this a worthy replacement the day I burn mine out after all those racing starts in the back garden?

Secondly - TSL Motorsport's website advises to fit the STi release bearing kit with it. What's this then? What's it do?

Thanks for allowing me to pick your brains.

I can say that the AP clutch is a worthy replacement (having seen an AP clutch side by side against a subaru clutch ) but as for the rest im so sorry i cant help there
(just ring someone like Mike at Scoobymania who will give you the pro's and con's )

The AP clutch doesn't normally come with a release bearing, so this could be why TSL are pushing the STi ones.

I have just replaced an AP organic on my STi Type R/A, which has only covered 31,000 miles.

Replaced it with a standard UK clutch (maybe not the best plan in the world) but 6000 miles and two trackdays later it still seems fine (and cost under £150 ex. labour)

I was told that these organic clutches last for ages so mine must have had plenty of abuse before it left the land of the rising sun.

cheers for the feedback guys. I smelled a burny smell last night

I was just wondering why it was called organic? Does it mean they don't use fertilisers when fitting it?

Mine was changed to an AP Racing Organic, which has been fine since, including some runs at Santa Pod.

Make sure when it does go, you dont drive it at all, otherwise you'll be wanting a new flywheel as well probably.

When mine went, it first noticed in 4th/5th when you floored it the rev's went up to like 5, 5.5k then dropped (as it slipped and started biting again) before accelerating nicely. At the worst case scenario I couldnt beat a fiesta off the lights. (head hung in shame).

I noticed the same with the revs. Faced the flywheel while it was out, as pretty much nothing left of the pads on the AP (it was a paddle clutch, BTW)
