Just wondering, standing at the front of the car with the hood open, the MY01 chassis has 2 horizontal members (on top of each other) running across the car just in front of the radiator.

The top one is easy to see - it holds the radiator mounts, bonnet prop etc.

The lower one is directly below, I assume it holds the front edge of the sump guard, the lower radiator mounts etc.

These 2 pieces are joined in the center by a vertical piece, which holds the hood catch/locking mechanism.

How "structural" are these members? ie do they form a significant part of the chassis-suspension rigidity, or are they just there to hold things like the grille, lamps, radiator etc in place. The reason I ask, is because they seem very thin and flexible - finger force is enough to wobble/twist them. This makes me believe that they're just there to hold the above etc in place, and are not part of the car's backbone.

Thoughts? Cheers.
