if your used to working on cars then no problem , if your not then they can be fun. get yourself a manual / instructions / help and yyou should be ok.

biggest problem with bearings is getting them out / in of hub assy. if your not used to being brutal / don't have a press then you could struggle.

same advice as for any job on any car

if you'r not confident then don't !!

Question

The front offside wheel bearing has started to get noisy on my MY97WRX, my local spares dealer (a general spares dealer) has said that the bearings come in a replacment hub assembly, he quoted £65 + vat. Does any body know if the bearing/hub assembly sounds right as I was expecting just the bearing and a lot of hammering to get the old one out of the existing hub.

I swapped a front one recently on my car - and without a proper set of tools it'll be almost impossible - especially a press.

It's still one of those "pain in the ole' ar$e" jobs.

Nearside rear just gone and quoted £300 to replace. Sounds excessive to me but don't know any better. After only 40k too, surely that cant be right!!! Any comments/experience gratefully received. Does anyone reckon Subaru UK would help towards cost. Car unfortunately out of warranty.

Cost me £200 fitted for a rear nearside on a MY93WRX and that was with an "import" bearing from an ex-dealer £300 sounds steep
