I here there are 2 methods to reset the ECU
1, the wires located under steering column
2, disconnect the battery for 3 hours.

I have tried 2 and no luck has anybody tested this to be a fact ?
I have MY94 so its a slow learning ECU but how slow should it learn ? I have had optimax in there now for 3 - 4 tank fulls but I got to admit I put a little bit of ESSO SUL in as I nearly ran out of fuel.
Did the battery method took it for a blast seamed the same really.
I have looked for the wires but it would help if I had a picture of the connectors I am looking for as I think I have found the black connectors and still no luck finding the green ones.
cheers

Mate I don't understand why you took offence.....yes its easy to do but I just can't find the wires your picture was really blured !
thanks for your help but no need to get mad about it !
besides if you read the full post I was enquiring if the battery reset method actually worked as if it does I am totally wasting my time looking for the wires as its a different problem.

Wind your seat right back lie where your ffet go and stare under the steering column.

There you will see two gree connectors and two black connectors.

They may be taped up etc.....

Just be persistent and you will find.

Angry

u got the pic from me this morning..............

u think I'm at the p!ss take ????

As I've been e-mailing you with info on this for 2 days now, I'd thought you'd listen to me.

There should be 2 x BLACK small connectors
There should be 2 x GREEN small connectors

You plug the black connector to the other black connector
You plug the green connector to the other green connector

You start up car and drive a short distance above 11km/ph (5 seconds - 30 seconds), once engine light comes on you stop car and dis-connect. This is the way most places tell you to carryout the reset.

As I've already told you, go to a Subaru dealer and get them to plug in a select monitor. This will carryout the reset (the subaru way)

And the battery removal method doesn't need to be that hard, disconnect the battery, put your foot on the brake (what this does is removes all the residual power from the wiring loom) replace battery terminal.

The method explained here is much better. However the engine light flashes continuosly during this phase.
