Sorry boys I know this has been asked b4, but I have forgotten the conclusion! I know where I can get some Mobil 1 0W 40W for £22 or castrol RS 0W 40W for £18 both for 4 ltrs. I reckon thats pretty cheap, is that ok to run in my sti V5?

nope dont run 0w40

If you want to run Mobil 1 use the motorsport 15W50 I think.

OW40 is too thin for a scoob engine

I read an article (can't remember where) that said 0w40 was fine for a scoob.
So I've put it in, is it proven to be too thin or is it hearsay please don't tell me I've knackered my engine

subaru main dealers use mobil 1 5W40. When I asked about it they said it was because the 0W40 was too thin.
hope this helps.
Mike.
P.S. I'd drop the 0W40 you've put in asap and replace with at least 5W40 or more preferably 10W40 (it's a small price to pay against any potential engine damage)

Subaru dealers do not use 0/40 Mobil 1 as FHI have not yet tested/approved it for Subarus. Mobil made 5/40 specially for Subaru dealers, this info came Mobil.
