Bluto, the rev-limiter can't do jack in the case of a missed upshift...but it sounds like you got lucky, since you didn't rev much over 7 grand.

Driving My 2002 WRX shooting brake yesterday when I was accelerating hard in 3rd. As I took a bend to the right I reached for the gearlever to change up and my poor co ordination caused me to select 2nd. As the revs rose to 7000 rpm the limiter cut in and I quickly let clutch back in. What damage if any could I have done, car seems fine.....Blutes
