Is it possible to make a dump valve louder?
#1
I have a forge VTA that I paid £150 for. I don't want to burn more money on a more expensive one, so was wondering whether I could modify the existing one to make it louder - any ideas/experiences??

The best way to increase the noise level on a dump valve is to enlarge the holes from where the air is released from. It is not guaranteed to increase noise, but works most time.
I beleive on the Forge Dump Valves, the holes are circular, so all you have to do is to put the dump valve in a vice, and drill out the holes.

If you have got a Forge Atmo type dump valve, the chances are you have got the standard "red" spring = No / very little noise....I had same, rang Forge and they sent me FOC a "blue" spring....takes two mins to change. Sounds very very nice now.
Ps watch if you swap the spring with the dump valve fitted to the intercooler that you dont drop any of the small bolts, they are a B******d to retrieve!!!!
Sure some one out there will have forges E-mail address.
