Mass produced or man made?

Just been given a contact for a local guy that specialises in hand made stainless steel exhausts and pipes.
So was wondering what is best, man-made, or mass produced?
My theory is that companies like Mongoose, Magnex etc have loads of testing equipment and spend years and lots of dollars testing and setting up the systems with the correct back pressure etc etc.
My idea of man-made ones, is that they just weld together pipes in the right shape.
Just a bit worried that a man/hand-made system will actually reduce power rather than increase it?
For my MR2 BTW.

IMHO both have their benefits , Scoobyport systems are made by hayward & scot who are very well repected bespoke exhausts manufactuers, on the other hand magnex etc have spent considerable wedge on testing... if the guy whos making it has made sytems for MR2's b4 then ask other owners for their reports, exhaust tuning is a fine art which even BIg companies can get wrong... sorry its not a definitive answer but u need to dig a little deeper

A couple of people came down to Haywards from the MR2 owners club a while ago. H&S have since fitted lots more systems as a result of the feedback.
I shouldn't be telling you this as I would rather they concentrate on making our stuff

The Hayward + Scott stuff is very good. As is Magnex, which is very good quality, with very good value. The Jap stuff is very expensive.
I have a Mongoose on my car, but ONLY becasue it was FREE. Not one of the best systems around by any means. Same applies to Scorpion. They just arent in the same league as the others mentioned above.
Value for money, and quality, Id buy Magnex every time
