Split Radiator hose
Ok, have split radiator hose, new on is on order. currently it is gaffer taped up, but that's getting too hot and thus liquid is still pishing out, not good.
So, what tape could I use that will stand the heat? Also, what can I top up the resivoir with? tap water (assume not) or distilled water. I really don't want to **** up the engine and I'm not planning on going anywhere, apart from home tonight and then to the garage when the new pipe turns up.

Mine went a while back, nothing I put on it whould stop the leak, took the garage 2 days to get a replacement abut £24 i think, 2 mins to remove the old & fit the new & top up with anti freeze.
not a big job just a pain, good luck in doing a temp. repair.

I'd spend the cash and get the SAMCO silicon hoses. My top hose burst on my 95 WRX and for obvious reasons couldn't get a new one from Subaru. Hoses fitted and not a leak in sight now.
As for what tape to use, I tried the same as you used above but it didn't last long. Luckily for me the SAMCO hoses were in stock and fitted them within a day.
Distilled water ?? For what reason, water is water for coolant along with anti-freeze.

Dunno where I got the distilled water thing from, must be mad.
Gonna use the repair tape in a mo and see if it holds. Hopefully the pipe should be at the garage soon. It's such a pain as it's such a small bit of pipe. Am tempted to go the Samco route, but at the mo i'll settle for a normal replacement pipe.
cheers for all the advice and help.

oooh, I might take you up on the offer, lemme see how long the garage takes to get one.
I've just removed the old one to put the hose tape on it so we will see how that holds up.
On the point of Samco hoses, how easy are they to fit? do you get fluid everywhere? not very knowledgeable on this type of thing.

Well when you replace the bottom radiator hose, you lose the lot (coolant that is
). I replaced both radiator hoses then the turbo to expansion tank. The other main hose off the expansion tank to the engine (L shaped hose) is a nightmare to fit and you lose just the expansion tank coolant level. As for the other one's I've left them off just now.
