Just bought ST17. I'm used to being able to slam a boot lid closed. But on this car it just bounces back up and needs to be pushed hard from an almost closed position. Is this standard or have I got a dogy boot?

My boot on my MY02 WRX needs a good slam to shut it or it just bounces back up. Dealer says thats just the way it is coz its so light.

Thumbs up

No, you haven't got a dodgy boot. Mine does exactly the same.

The technique I use is to get the boot about 2 foot off the latch and then push down firmly to shut it.

Be careful as I think the boot is an light alloy item. Either way, whatever its made out of its pretty easy to damage it.

Also make sure that the boot catch by the drivers seat is sat properly. Mine has a habit of being fouled by the drivers mat, which does make boot closing that little bit more difficult...
