Oil questions

A couple of oil questions...
1) Have Duckhams stopped making oil?
(QXR met exactly the specs laid down in the owners manual...)
2) What do the various letters of the API classification and other small print mean? E.G. SG SH & SJ (I know what 10W40 etc. is about)
Very few oils meet the exact requirements in the user manual - in Halfords, the only one that did was synthetic motorcycle oil!!
So I left the shop without oil, and the car will have to wait until I can find something more sensible...

No Duckhams still produce oil - You find it in most BP filling stations (Hypergrade). I haven't seen QXR for a while myself but we used to get it from our works shop but they don't stock it now.
