Welcome, is it a turbo? what year is it? Is it uk or import?

Service can be done by you...if you have mech knowlege, timing belt change is prob one of the most involved things.

Just have a 'browse' through the millions of posts on here and if you have specific questions, there is nearly always someone who knows the answer.

Just shout

Mmmmmmm, you wont have to worry about boost problems then

As I say, have a 'browse' around and if you have any specific Q, shout.

You would prob need to post in 'Gen Tec' or 'Drivetrain' if you want technical answers.

Best of luck and enjoy ya car.

The temp is normal.

No need for a scoop unless:

a) you want it to look like something it isn't
b) you want to cover the engine bay in water

Get an ITG panel filter and a Scoobysport/Magnex backbox for a slight performance increase & a huge smile increase

You could buy a cheap stick-on one from the Max Power type mags, cut a hole in the bonnet or buy a second-hand turbo bonnet with the holes already cut in.

Its been done on many Sports, but a matter of taste

Halfords sell an "Impreza" bonnet scoop.

However, I would get a Turbo bonnet myself, if I wanted the Turbo look, as you get the vents as well.
(Admittedly these are just for show, even on the turbos...)

If you buy a scoop you risk

1. having higher insurance premiums

2. having it ripped off to be glued on someone's nova

3. having your car stolen as they think it's a turbo.

I wouldn't.

Hello and welcome
First of all, services.... 7.5k or 6months, which ever comes first (ie 2 per year).
Id get someone like TSL to do your servicing for you, keep em serviced and that keeps the car sweet
Some of the services you definately wouldnt be able to do yourself, it can be a bit complex with all the bits that need doing and these engines need a lot of TLC to keep em on form, neglect them and they will neglect you
(keep em serviced and they go for years )
Model wise... it looks like your car is either a MY (model year) 96 or 97 (the 97's were a facelift version and a little more up to date).
Check out www.sidc.co.uk as it should have some answers for you

Tony
