Do i need a turbo timer? Is it worth £130 plus fitting?

I have been reading an article about turbo's not being allowed to cool down properly, i usually leave mine for about 2 mins before turning off the engine. Is this ok? Would it be oney well spent buying one? and how do they work?

Does the engine stay running if you take the key out and lock the car up and leave it?

Its up to u m8
I dont have a turbo timer, if i give it a good thrashing I JUST LEAVE IT RUNNING FOR 3 TO 4 MINUTES.
Yes u can take the key out and lock the car but dont leave it.
Because if u think about it, it makes it an easy target

but its all personal preferance

i've got one fitted to mine but only use it on long runs but never leave the car while it's running . it's just piece of mind if you forget to leave it idling for a few mins, because how many people forget to do this after they have driven at 70 mph down a motorway or the like and come off at services and just turned it off (do you want fried bearings with your burger sir )

Hi

I have a 'Blitz Multi Speed Turbo Timer' fitted it myself to my MY00 4 door. I find it really usefull. It is linked into the ecu and monitors how much boost you use, then it just runs the car on for a period of time when you switch off. This can range from about 1 min for normal driving up to 5 mins for long motoeway blasts!!
Another nice feature is that it has security built in. If someone was to get into the car (while it is running on) and try and drive away, as soon as the car moves a fraction the ignition is cut.
I have total confidence in locking my car up and walking away ..... but you do get some strange looks! .... even stranger when it eventually stops.
The only thing that bugs me slightly is I would love it to automatically set the alarm when it stops (Sigma - as fitted to all UK models).
I'm in Hemel Hempstead if you fancy having a look. failing that you could always call me.

i take it you can't arm the alarm until the engine is off
