Thumbs down

Some clown/previous owner has sprayed a thick film of waxy goo all over the inside of my engine bay at some time. Its horrble and I want rid of it. Anyone got any ideas as to how I can get do this? I draw the line at immersing the car in hot petrol, by the way, it's worth more than "you have been framed" would pay me for the video.
Anwers on a postcard etc etc

Question

You sure its not the waxoil that gets put on as part of the body service? My under bonnet and suspension struts and other bits got covered in the stuff when the body service was done. If so, it's there for a purpose, even if it is gunky

If not, dunno how to get rid of it

WD40 or white spirit on a cloth does it.

A simple Gallon of engine de-greaser from a motor factors will remove most sticky goo's. Far cheaper than gunk etc.

Wink

Make sure you cover the engine shiney bits in goo again though, as they'll corrode and go all 'nasty' once clean.

Oh, that rather defeats the object doesn't it?

IMHO, the best stuff to use if the Wax Wizard's Multiclean. Spray it on and literally watch the dirt and gunge just fall off....

Floyd, if you wash the engine bay every few months then nothing should corrode
