has anyone fitted the rubber side protection strips to their cars? do you know how much they cost from subaru?
it seems a shame to fit them to my STi but surely its got to be better than allowing a free for all on the doors in car parks etc.
any thoughts? have you all used subaru ones?

Im tempted to get them as well as dont want my doors getting scratched etc by numskulls at the local tesco car park etc. Was thinking of getting them done when I book my scoob in to have the side skirts etc colour coded. Would like to know how much first?

Hiya,
Getting these strips are on my "should-do" list - i.e. awaiting funds

Here's a good link

Had these fitted to my MY00 turbo by the dealer no dents etc so for 55quid they are doing a good job and you get use to the look of them after a while, better than spending 50+ quid on dent removal every 6 months IMHO.

i've got them on my dbm, they actually look quite good - seem very fade resistant even after 18 months of wear.

as for protection - they have to work, as I've got no dents (touching wood!) or any other nasties

I had them fitted when I bought the car. Cost be nowt, cus the dealer threw em in as part of the deal. But they would have 50 quid to buy and 50 quid to paint

They are

I had AP 6 pots, PD7's and new SO2's on my old car.
So I sold the standard STI7 wheels and brakes back to the dealer and put the money towards the car and got the dealer to put the PD7's and 6 pots on the STI

I also managed to source 2 brand new, in the box PD7's for 150 quid the pair

I have these and I still get dents. The problem is that rear doors have their corners higher up because they are over the wheel archs and can contact your bodywork above the line of the rubber strip. My tip is if you have to park next to anything, try to park next to a 2 door!

Question

How many people have had them fitted or have themselves fitted the 'bump strips' under the seam that goes down the length of the car. ?

Question

Sorry,

Don't understand what you mean. The strips on mine are stuck below the line.

Exactly my point, below the line.
I have fitted mine exactly over the recess, and it looks pretty good.
I used a carefully modified piece of wooden dowl, that fits into the contour of the recess exactly.
I then measured the width of the rubber 'bump strips', and cut a rectangular piece of 3ply about 3inches long. The piece of dowl was then bonded to the middle of this piece of 3ply.
I then ran the measuring device down the length of the car intermittently marking the bodywork with a fibre tipped pen.
Then just line the strips up with the marks and bingo 'bump strips' going exactly down the centre of the car.
It was initially a little more time consuming but I think it has been worth it.

Rasher...
