Default Oxygen Sensor Help

On my 2004 WRX I did a series of upgrades including the exhaust system (I removed DIY ported and refitted the exhaust manifold in this). I then had it remapped and drove it home a couple of hours and then used it a few times before parking it up in storage. I then took it out the following year for an MOT and found the engine light on. I read the code and found it is the oxygen sensor in the manifold I believe. I got a replacement oxygen sensor but didn't fit it and just parked the car up in storage again after passing the MOT.

I have now taken it out of storage again a year later and driven it about 5 miles but the engine light didn't come on. I am therefore wondering if the problem has resolved itself and cleared or if it is likely to fail and cause an engine light again. I need to take the car from where it is stored to where I live two hours drive away. When I removed the manifold during the upgrades and a bit of DIY porting I attempted to remove the oxygen sensor but it was so tight that I thought best to leave it.

I have more facilities where I live so would rather get the car back before attempting to change the oxygen sensor. I don't know whether to leave it and hope it is now fine, try and replace it in the place where it is stored (not ideal) or leave it and if the engine light comes on call the RAC to get me back home to avoid damaging the engine?
