Default Turbos! sub 400hp for an 05 STI UK

Hey folks,

The car is a 2005 STI type UK with PPP and a remap making around 330hp. I'm aiming for a fast road car that can do the occasional track day.

I'm thinking getting a trick up-pipe, ported headers and upgrade the turbo.

The stock turbo is a VF35 if I'm not mistaken.

What's out there in good turbo options for the 330 to 400hp range? I'm thinking a hybrid VF35 might be a good option but I wouldn't mind buying an all new turbo if it ticks all the boxes.

Any tips or good ideas?

Thanks for the link!
So there's the SC38 and SC36, too. Will do some research on those, from what I've heard people seem to like them. Any experience with these?

SC36 looks very interesting. Pricey but should give a nice bump in power and better response over the stock turbo.

More ideas? Experience? Stuff I should be looking at?

I have an SC36 on my classic. Been a strong turbo for a long time made 380bhp on scoobyclinics rollers a couple years back on a cold November morning.

My favourite, if i was to replace it, id probably go for the MD321H though. Or something 400-450bhp power.

MD321H being a BB turbo rather than journal bearing.

380 would be sweet! What spec did you have for that? Did you find the MD321H less responsive in comparison?
I'm pretty much all stock with the PPP pack, hence wanting to stay sub 400 as I don't want to start maxing out all the components at this time. Maybe one day a 2.1 rebuild and go for 400+...

Sorry i meant if i was to replace the sc36... id go MD321H

Fully forged front mount etc1.5bar, version 5 STi track car.

Its an original SC36 as well so silver housing etc, was actually one of the first ones they sold

SC turbos are blouch turbos essentially.

Ok, got it! Thanks. That sort of power in a classic must be mental!
I was on their website earlier actually trying to make sense of it all.

Lol power is never ending tbh

Mines pretty competent on the corners also so does surprise alot of cars on track.

On that site they claim a little higher than scooby clinic do. Im not sure if with exchange rates and import tax youll save at all.

If i was you though id consider the MD321H as it will give you some "head room" for more power when this next stage wears off ha haa

obviously thats coming from someone with no experience with that turbo. Just what ive researched and read when i nearly swapped over!
