Default JDM STI Forester engine

Hi, I've been looking at a JDM STI Forester, it seems they are all 2.5l, I've been in touch with a guy who has got a nice example, he says the engines in the JDM STI forester are stronger than the normal 2.5l. I thought they where all the same weaker, can anyone tell me if this is true?

2004 (SG9) on Forester STI engine is the EJ255,(not the EJ257) basically the same as a newage WRX Hawk model but with different turbo.
Earlier SF5 models where 2.0L
