Evening all

So I managed to connect the battery too the bugeye today to see what's working and what's not. I've rebuilt the shell up so I think I know the answer but wanted your advice.

It's had a 2nd hand ecu and 2nd hand door lock set. Given that these are from different vehicles would the likely suspect be that the ecu and door lock is not coded together stopping the electrics from working. I'm getting power to the interior lights and the electric mirrors but nothing else on the dash at present. There's no engine and the.wiring loom in.the engine bay is not connected to everything

Subaru should be able to code the keys to the ecu if that's the issue.

I know Impreza's from 1997-1998 had to be coded to ecu, but on 1999-2000 models, that is not the case.

Had no clue about newage models.

The keys must be coded to the IMMobiliser Control Module which "talks" to the ECU.
The antenna for the IMM CM surrounds the steering lock /ignition switch. Keys should have transponder chips in them.

Don't suppose anyone happens to know how you go about getting it reprogrammed or would I be better of just buying a complete set with ecu, transponder and all the locks

Easiest would be to get the keys, locks, transponder and ECU all from the same car. I'm not certain whether it's just the keys and transponder which need to be pair or whether the ECU also needs to be paired to the transponder. I have a feeling that it's the latter as I was looking to sell all my PPP set up but I think I read that the transponder needed to match the ECU (and thus remove all the locks too) and it seemed like too much hassle.

I'm pretty sure you only need the matching transponder and chip to talk to the ECU as I've read of ways to get rid of the system and keep the stock ECU. It shouldn't be stopping the dash from working though. There's a light on the dash to tell you when the system has disabled the car but it only stops fuel getting to the engine. The engine will even still crank over without the chip present.
