Default Gearbox rebuild

Probably varies but what cost to rebuild a classic 5 speed gearbox. Its knocking been told its missing a tooth. Trying to weigh up cost to refurb v cost to buy/have second hand box fitted. Ty752vb3fa

I've looked at 6 speeds and just don't have that money, do you mean upgrade to a different 5 speed? Or can the internals be upgraded?

yeah can get gearkits for them but they arnt cheap.

330 is higher up towards the limit, might be worth looking at a hawk 5 speed box.

interesting, didn't even think about a hawk box, guess I'd need hubs/shafts and diff with it to be sure.

When my 5 speed went I was looking out for these but couldn't find one at a decent price. If I remember correctly it was basically your normal 5 speed with stronger internals.

Does yours still go into gear etc because if it isn't damaged heavily I know a few places near me that do it but you would need to speak to them on cost.

To be fair, that doesn't mean that it's not true that on average they are stronger than the 752s

In contrast, I ran mine for many years with a td05-20g including track days etc, and there was nothing wrong with my box when I took it out. I had mine from brand new, so I knew the full history of it.

Hi yeah still goes into gears, just makes a loud knocking until clutch is pressed. I,ve since found a gearbox that was supposed to be on the car originally just working out which bits are interchangeable box\diff\shafts\prop\hubs. Cheers

You might need to change your diff depending on what was in there before. But other then that you should be good to go.
