Default BLOB OVERHEATING!!!!

Hi all owned my 03 sti for 7 years coming up to 8 years first owner worked for prodrive and then me fully looked after hasn't been tracked more of a show car too add it's just turned 74k miles

It's never missed a beat ever

Yesterday on way to garage for cambelt change I noticed the temp gauage move slightly and thought I was tripping , 5 miles from garage I decide to put into 4th give a pull from 30mph to 60mph and the temp gauage rocketed up and over the red hot mark

I pulled over stopped checked all pipes for leaks nothing got all fluid still checked exhaust no water coming g fron there

Heaters still blowing hot and cold air

Started car again and it stayed in the red until I arrived at garage

Is this head gasket ?

I have new water pump thermo and cambelt kit being fitted

Never ever missed a beat and the day going to the garage it decided to mess me around

I hope its just thermo or coolant sensor something simple

Just my luck all these years and on way to garage decided to mess me around
