Default High pressure

Hi all, hope someone can help me with yet another issue on my car... (1999 v5 JDM Impreza sti)

I've noticed that the coolant level dropped significantly since last fill (less than 1k miles ago) and had to put in about 1.5 liters before reaching the top. Having noticed no obvious leaks in the garage, it started alarm bells for failing head gasket.
Took it to the local garage to measure compression, which apparently is fine, however the guy said that as soon as the engine warms up, I get very high pressure in the water system (over 2 bars), while the sti cap sticker says 1.3 bar max.
The car currently runs fine.

Does anyone know if high pressure in the water system is normal, if not, is it likely to be a sign of HG failure? Could it be a blockage in the pipes or anything else, and how to establish the issue?

Thank you in advance, sorry for the long post.

Ok but if It was the cap, how do I justify the high pressure? Does anyone know if over 2 bars is considered high? Thanks.

You've answered your own question it should be no higher than the cap rating plus check your crossover pipe to the expansion bottle make sure its not blocked with rust.
