Default ej255 oil pan to ej205

Has anyone fitted ej255/257 oil pan to earlier ej205 (or ej207)? The newer oil pan seems to be significant improvement over older design, considering oil supply during hard cornering, I wonder if the newer oil pan fits ej205 with no other modifications (apart from ej255 oil strainer and windage tray)? Especially will ej255 fit to ej205 exhaust manifold, oil filter, etc.?

Everything fits the best as long as you have dipstick and what you have already said

I had a twinscroll/257 group n sump fitted to my ej207 along with new pick up and dipstick, the mechanic (very experienced subaru guy) did not have a fun time. But it works well. Possibly running a little hotter on sustained runs, think it might be a lower oil quantity.

you need to ensure you have the correct oil pick-up, dipstick tube & dipstick to suit the version of sump.................

fitting any sump whilst the engine is still in the car is a mare at best because of the lack of clearance against the subframe

1509joe Did you do put ej255 by oil sump to ej205/207 by yourself?
scoobaholic What do you mean by group n? Was that twinscroll sump, which was additionally modified (like RCM one)? Or is stock twinscroll sump considered as group n option for ej207?

I am considering this mod now, because I have my engine out currently. So the exhaust manifold or anything else will not colide with the new sump? Are there then any differences between ej205 and ej255 exhaust manifolds at all?

Yes but engine was out but it can be done with 1/4 drive sockets with engine in place.

Yeah modified, rcm one. Well, the pros agree, engine out is preferable for this job. I think you should be ok with the manifold, certainly works for the ej207 stock manifold. Maybe someone can confirm this for you?

in general single scroll sumps will only fit with single scroll headers..................twin scroll sumps clear pretty much anything.................

grpN is / was "showroom" class and allowed certain modifications - on the new-age cars they allowed additional inserts to the std siump to control oil surge more effectively (swapping a factory sump for another factory sump off a different model has nothing to do with grpN.......)

My engine is currently out, that's why I am considering this mod. What was your main motivation to do it anyway? Were you, similarly to me, afraid of oil starvation, or was there any other reason?
The list of all parts needed to do this: 11109AA151 (sump), 11140AA150 (stick), 15144AA011 (stick guide), 10915AA010 (tray) - is that correct? The most expensive part is oil pan/sump itself. Do you have any experience with replacement/non-OEM units? Or second-hand pans?

oil pans are not expensive - not a chance i would consider a s/hand one that could have potentially been from an engine failure as it will be full of debris.............

they also corrode dependant on use so if you do buy s/hand you need to ensure its all good

Would anyone happen to have the part numbers for the dipstick and tube for a twin scroll sump fitted to a EJ20 block?
Its the twin scroll RCM baffled sump that is fitted.
