Exclamation Help fitting braided brake lines

Quick q regarding braided brake lines. It appears there are 2 longer cables and 2 shorter cables. What length of cables go where. ie short at front and long at back.

My mechanic appears to have fitted the long ones at front and they have rubbed through the braided line to a degree as touched the wheel/ Will need to buy new ones and fit myself....properly.

Thanks!

The longer ones are for the front usually dependant on model/year etc...but it sounds like they where fitted casually,i.e not using the o.e brackets and fittings to keep them snug to the supports or the braided hoses were just a generic brand that’s why they rubbed away. What is a good thing to fit at the same time as braided hosing is gravel guards which is a coil spring that fits over the braided hosing to prevent the same problem that you had with your hoses...they are standard parts with Ap Caliper kits and come with most top performance brake upgrade kits.SJ.

Thanks for reply

I bought these, which i thought was a decent seller
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stainless...EAAOSwBRVaUx7t

The original clips and brake line fixings were all used but the lines appear to have been rubbing on the wheel at the front.
Very strange

Thanks for reply!

They are matei have ordered from them over the years only had good parts and service from kath, look into some gravel guards as well though they will definitely stop any type of rubbing when you fit your fresh brake lines.SJ.

Thanks mate!! Glad to know they are a good seller!

Ill have a look for gravel gaurds 100% - great suggestion!

Is this it? https://www.racinglines.com/brake-line-spiral-guard

Any idea if 1 metre will be enough? i ordered 2 metre.in anycase

I am presuming the protector will be too big to fit through the brake line holder on dampers? Ill need to cut it and add before and after the pass through point?

Thanks for great info

Those are the ones mate2 metres will be more then enough, Yeah you cut to what you need so the whole hose is covered except for the parts that it his not possible to, your hoses will be fully protected and you will have peace of mind...just imagine if the braided line wore all the way through a very dangerous accident waiting to happen.SJ.

100% mate. it was already rubbed through to the metal underneath the plastic cover and i could see a bulge forming. Not worth the chance.

Yes there was, I replied to you and told you I'd had the same problem and flipped the banjo fitting on the caliper 180degrees to move it away from the tyre. You even thanked me for the help
