Default What to service while engine out of car

Hi All,

I am doing an engine swap - taking a 2.0 N/A from a 2001 Impreza and putting it in a VW T2 camper. The engine has 75K on the clock and running well. Only while the engine is out I was wondering if there is any thing worth changing. At the moment my list is:

Oil + Filter
Fuel Filter
Air Filter
Spark Plugs
Clutch
Timing Belt

Also a big clean!

Just wondering if I missed anything or anyone got any recommendations.

Cheers

I would also maybe change:

Front and rear crank seals
Water pump
The cam cover gaskets

Oh also the engine has a small little water pipe that runs from the water pump area up towards the left hand side, tucked away under the manifold.

I'd be inclined to change the little rubber hoses that connect the pipe to the pump etc. Mine were pretty ropey looking after 10 years, and they could be a pain to get to if you have the cam covers etc on, at least if I remember correctly.

Out of interest are you doing the conversion yourself?

I only ask as I have a 73 Bay with a conversions done by the Charlatans at TSR which never ran right. It’s out the bus for restoration currently so I’m looking in to new looms and was wondering if you were doing your own?

Ta.
