6 speed box into a classic
Hi all,
just wondering if the 2005> sti box will fit the subaru classic with the male axles out of a wrx 2005>
will the axle fit the gearbox and will it be compatible with the stock classic r160 5x100 front hub (non abs).

I've got a classic and looked into doing it a few years ago, so take this with a pinch of salt as my memory of it isnt fresh.
But I was under the impression that to go to 6sp on a classic you needed the whole STI drive train.
Box, Diff, Prop & Axles.
I think the original hubs would be ok though.

The widetrack driveshafts are longer and wont fit. I believe its possible to run the following as i'm sure i read it on here before...
Hubs: Original Classic ones
Front Driveshafts: Hawkeye WRX
Rear Driveshafts: Pre widetrack STI Shafts
Prop Shaft: from 6 speed
Gearbox Cradle: from 6 speed
Starter Motor: from 6 Speed
Flywheel: from 6 speed

to run any R180 rear STi type shaft you would have to fit the complete matching hubs, diff, etc. also as nothing is interchangeable...........
at the rear you can use your original parts as long as you install the correct ratio rear diff....
