Wastegate setup Sti hatch
Hi
i fitted a turbosmart internal wastegate actuator to my sti 08 hatch. My question is does anyone know the procedure of how to set it up. My car is running at about 350bhp at 1.2 bar of boost. Some people have said it’s just a matter of fitting it at its weakest setting and running it, others have said it would need a tune/map adjustment!!
I haven’t got a boost gauge fitted so don’t know for sure what will happen with the new wastegate!
Thanks

Do you know the spring pressure of the new actuator you have fitted? Typically I believe the standard STI has a 0.8bar spring in the standard actuator.
If your new actuator is uprated and stronger than this (which I suspect it is) then it will probably need to be mapped in.
You can get a simple logger plugged into the ODB2 port on your car and run something like Torque Pro or BTSSM on an android device through a KKL cable with USB OTG adaptor to log the ECU boost pressure.

That sounds like a standard spring then. Should be fine if you are able to set the boost pressure correctly on the actuator then. Connect up a boost gauge or monitor the ODB2 port boost pressure and set the actuator so that you are getting the same peak boost. Should be fine.
