Default Engine Question

Hi

New to ownership a couple of weeks ago, my car is a 1995 WRX Sti with bigger turbo - about 330-330 bhp I think.

Driving yesterday I noticed I was getting a hesitation in power when on full throttle above 4krpm just as the turbo came on full boost. After parking for a few hours “Check Engine” light can on when I started up - no knocks or bangs and good oil pressure and normal temps.

i can hear the turbo spooling up but power way down - thinking maybe a pipe leaking somewhere or some fuelling problems?

any pointers on where to start ?

thanks in advance !!

chris

or it could have dropped a sensor, don't try to 'drive through it' get it looked at, if the maf has dropped could fry the engine if you keep trying to drive it on boost

Thanks Tidgy - car is parked up at home now - will take a look at it tomorrow and see if it is anything obvious first - not going to drive it anywhere fast until I get to the bottom of the problem

Have you thought about reading the engine error code ?
Might really help point you in the right direction ?
Manually Reading ECU Codes
