Default Widetrack exhaust drama's!

Hi all,

My widetrack blobeye (JDM) has a stainless down pipe and a straight through Blitz exhaust that is very loud...! The car also needs to be MOT'd soon,

I have a V7 OEM centre section and back box that looks like it should fit the car (I hunted for a JDM one, and was told from a breaker that it is......)

However the stainless down pipe on the car looks to finish slightly further back than an OEM one, so although the OEM centre section would in theory match up to it, it would sit too far back by around 100mm or so.

So, what are my options? Find a twinscroll OEM downpipe and fit that? Or some other type of quieter aftermarket centre and back box that would fit my down pipe?

Advice and ideas welcome!

Thanks

Could you not possible just have someone weld a extra section of 2.5/3" pipe in? Or maybe add a spacer in (I have done both in the past).

Its the opposite problem, I would have to remove around 100-150mm of the aftermarket downpipe.

And to shorten it, it needs to be off the car so it could be welded all the way around.

Can't help thinking there must be a neater solution that I just dont know about!

Like an aftermarket downpipe that fits to an OEM exhaust?

can you not shorten the centre section by cutting out 100mm on the straight section part of it

or have you bought an OEM centre with the resonator in middle?

iirc if your car is twin scroll a classic cat back exhaust fits straight on. A twin scroll downpipe fits straight onto a classic with no alterations at all. You would probably have to change the hanger on the rear section.

Some brands of downpipe are not OEM lengths.. eg my JDM twinscroll I fitted a Milltek Downpipe to and its sites about an inch further back to where it mounts up to the center section.

for our NCT in Ireland (MOT) I swap out the complete system back to OEM.

You might have to source a OEM Twinscroll downpipe if you don't fancy modifying the center section,.

As has been said, some JDMs have classic length sections and some have newage lengths. Bloody pain it is!

Hmmm, this is going to be fun then...!

Looks like its a H&S non-cat down pipe, so I need to get my OEM system modified to match this I think,

Will update....!

Definitely.

My experience of Miltek is the one that stands out as the exhaust I would like to have next. Great machining, great fit, and nice sound unlike any other exhaust I have ever had.

I had a widetrack jdm and standard downpipe was longer than uk one but with shorter second pipe, that was same length as uk 2.5 sti, I actually fitted a ppp 2.5 second pipe to get it in stainless and used a normal stainless newage centre section and backbox, think it’s the earlier non widetrack jdm that has longer downpipe and classic length centre section.
