Key out but car still running!!? Help!
Went out earlier to fire up my Turbo 2000 as its been sat for a week. Ran it for a couple of minutes then turned it off and pulled out the key...... lo and behold, the car is still running!!
At this point panic set in, the car is up on axle stands with no rear suspension so I couldn’t stall it. After 20 minutes messing around managed to shut it off.
Anybody any idea where to start in fault finding this?

Scooby Regular
Disconnecting the battery should stop it.
Sounds as if the ignition switch internals are goosed.
Depending upon model year (<97)it is possible to replace just the switch and wiring. (item 5)

Its a MY00 Turbo 2000.
If I need to replace the whole switch, will I need to get a new set of keys and door locks?

Classic ign barrells are known for this, they wear, basically im betting although you turned the key to off to pull the key out, it wasnt quite in th eoff position yet because the tumblers wear they allow you to pull the key out
try it again and slowly pull the key to the full off position hard and see if it does it again
