Default Blob wrx, opinions?

Hello,

Following on from the previous post, I think I'm going for a blob eye wrx as my next car. Just wanting some advise to what to check for when looking at these as if any one you owns one or has owned one if they could share there experiences? I haven't even drove one yet but im guessing I will like the driving experience and I love the looks! I've attached a ad local to me that I'm going to test drive to get a feel of the but don't think this is the one I'll end up with as it's a little too high mileage I think?

Thanks liam

Check for knocks from shocks and drop links, check for noisy turbo.
At that mileage it either really needs, or should have had a clutch change.
Make sure you start it up from cold, they do suffer from a bit of piston slap occasionally, if it does it should disappear quickly, if it carries on leave it alone.
Treated correctly they are pretty bomb proof.

Find someone who has a decent working one and get a ride in that first.

A tired WRX, down on power, with knackered suspension and poor brakes may still seem like a great car if you're only used to driving far more pedestrian cars.

They are getting to an age where rust can be an issue. So check sills, all round the windscreen and the section uner the radiator. Rocker cover gaskets weep and drip oil on the the exhaust. Radiators fail and bulge out to the side. Listen carefully for any knocks or bangs on the test drive.
Keep in mind you may have to refresh a few bushes to get it to feel like a new car. But they are pretty tough, as long as they have been well treated.
