Default Replacement fuel filler cap

Since fitting a walbro fuel pump (part of upgrades along with remap) I have a strong smell of petrol around the rear quarter o/s (UK MY 00).

I can't see any leaks so I'm going to rule out the filler cap before upgrading the fuel lines. I can't find any new oem ones so I'm wondering if anyone has tried an aftermarket cap and whether it was any good.

Thanks

If you are ruling out the cap why are you after an aftermarket cap and maybe your fuel smell is due to the filler pipe.

Wasn't clear, but meant that I was going to eliminate a problem with the cap by replacing it with a new one.

If that doesn't cure the problem I'll look into the pipe and lines.

If its only started to smell since changing your pump then it could be the gasket around the pump cradle. How did the gasket look when you removed it ?? I had the same issue with a strong petrol smell and no pressure in the tank when you remove the filler cap, a new gasket fitted and all is well.

Have you checked the condition of the fuel filler neck, a known weak point due to mud collecting between the pipe and plastic cover and rotting through.

Thanks, I'm going to go back and have a closer look at the gasket and filler neck. There isn't any pressure in the tank when the cap is removed.
