Default Oil leak

Subaru Forester R reg, I think its a '97' went for its MOT a few weeks ago only to be told that when the engine is warm it chucks out oil, been told it is the front crank seal no idea what I am doing but have a colleague who can do it just want to know what else it could be and what I have to look for to diagnose correctly.
Thanks in advance

more than likely the rocker cover gaskets left and right. import car parts are your boys to purchase them, easy job as well.
where your ht leads to have a quick look down there and you will be able to tell for sure

if its smoking and giving off fumes it could be the rocker gaskets as it drips onto the hot exhaust manifold, usually the drivers side goes as thats where the turbo is and the gaskets get hard and brittle with the heat then start to weep. if its the front crank seal you will need to factor in the cost of a timing belt as they need to come off to do the crank seal and it would be silly not to do it while in there unless you know its a recent one.
