Default V3 Type R difficult to start once warm and stood a while

Evening all.

My v3 type r starts fine when cold and again when warm if started straight away, or within 2-3 mins. Leave it any longer and it needs cranking for 5-10 seconds before starting. Its been getting worse for the last 3 to 4 months but it only gets used once a week for a 4 mile each way journey.

There is a very strong smell of fuel from the exhaust and there is defo a spark at the plugs. Only way to start it is to floor the pedal, which is I believe the way to start a flooded engine. I don't touch the pedal to start it normally.

Ive changed the ecu coolant temp sensor as well as the cam and crank sensors. It has a new battery fitted too.

I'm left thinking that it could be an earthing issue or would a single leaking injector cause enough of a problem that all 4 cylinders would be affected? I suppose the fuel would vapourise into the inlet manifold?

Anything else I can check? Its fitted with a 6s ecu and esl board.

Cheers,

Wayne.

Had a similar problem on my M3, the injectors were leaking.

Sounds like it could be the camshaft sensor starting to fail or maybe the crank sensor. I would swap the camshaft sensor first as it's a 5 minute job, the crank sensors are often stuck in place but do come out with some persuasion.

Dusted off the type r after 2 years of no use. Found out after fitting new injectors that the seals have gone on the old ones. Just thought I would update this thread.
