You will need bigger injectors.. you would be better off with a vf35 on a standard wrx, you will also need it mapped and a sti tmic to benefit

TD05 16G would be better than 20G.

Nowt wrong with a td05 20g on a 2.0litre,
I had a td06 20g on a 03wrx and it wasn't too laggy.
Ported manifold and a Harvey up pipe would help out a bit too

i expect your definition of lag is very different to mine haha

If it's not hitting peak torque by 4k at the very latest its laggy

cobblers, I had a td05-20g back in 2007 onwards, and it was ballistic. Really decent kick in the back, considering it was a standard engine block with just bolt ons.

392bhp on a dash of e85 (SimonJGM's road dyno, so take with a pinch of salt)

It made 1 bar by 2900 RPM (though in fifth) and full boost a couple of hundred RPM later. I really miss the way the car drove, if kept on boil it was fantastic.

Yep. Cloud cuckoo land and all that. Ain't happening.

I'd kill for that response on my own 20g/2.0 set-up lol

A couple of hundred may have been a bit more like 400rpm, so 3300 RPM, and 5th gear, so definitely not impossible at all.

Also, note that this was on a part mix of e85, and lateral headers.

here are my graphs: http://www.bilar.co.uk/subaru/graphs/

First map done by Bob Rawle on straight V-power (with an aim to preserving the car + box), second map by JGM with NF octane booster, third map by JGM with E85 (10%), with a "caution to the wind" approach

It was a stock td05-20g (from andy forrest), although I did run some E85 (as I pointed out in the first post).

I'm not saying a td05-20g will not feel laggier than a td04, of course it will, but if you adjust your driving style (which you'll have to do with any bigger turbo in reality, be that a 20g, or a md321 or whatever), then at least for me it was a fantastic turbo.

Then again, I think I might have different preferences to most people... I've just fitted a td06-20g on my 2.1 Haven't driven it yet, but I sneakily suspect it might be a step too far on the turbine side, but time will tell..
