I'm trying to put a V3 back to the correct components it should have. I bought it last December only to find a month later head gasket starting to fail. Upon further investigation I found it has v1-v2 HLA heads and a TD04L.

However it does have a factory forged bottom end so at least one part it still original.

As for the heads the solution is to wait for a pair of STI v3 heads to show up so that is not a major problem although it may take some time to find decent a pair available as everyone is after those atm.

Turbo however .. original was VF22 but its gone I am guessing one of the previous owner killed the original shim over bucket heads and toasted the turbo at the same time. Current problem it seems really hard to find a good VF22 these days as most people have killed them by now.

What other model turbos should I consider that are similar performance to VF22 but more readily available ?
