Replacing Bushes?
Hi all,
I'm at 78k and the ride is getting bumpy and knocking at the back. Going to replace the rear shocks and was wandering about PU bushes on the subframe, can anyone advise if this is a good idea, how hard it is and how many I need?

I don't know about the subframe, but I'm have the trailing arm bushes replaced on my wagon with superpro poly the week after next. I can update with the differences if you're curious.
Thanks Stuart. Is it a home mechanic job or is it tricky? Any idea how much its going to cost?
There are two things that would put me off doing it. First the alignment will need checking afterwards, second if you're not changing the entire arm then you're going to need to press out and press in the new bushes, and I don't have the kit or experience to do that.
Plus I haven't got any time, or a garage and it's too cold to be under the car at my age.

i woukd just do the shocks , if it's not broken bushes wise why fix it , save your cash for the next job , mine are on 150k and still ok , i've only changed outrigger rear diff bushes as one was beginning to go , arb links can cause issues of bump but mainly on the front

i would spray a bit of grease and see what happens it's your call , doing the outrigger ones were a big and very long job they took 2 days to do , i was tempted to do rear diff to subframe but i thought better and did not go there , poly bushes normally creak im surprised the rubber ones are ?

I hate creakes and rattles so I'very always got my hands full with this car.
And it can't be any worse than it is now. It sounds like a cheap sound effect from a horror film.
I've had the whiteline poly bushed trailing arms fitted. The rear bushes turned out to be in good shape, but the fronts were a mess of perished rubber and rusted inserts.
The effect is fantastic. The creaking has gone completely and the car feels much more stable and planted. And no perceptible increase in noise or vibration.
