Moderators,
as a regular contributor to Tech and Drivetrain - on a purely as interest basis to help share my bodgy experiences of tuning my car
Every time I see a post of a tuning request I see "JW Racing / PerformanceExhausts.net" posting as Jamie Whitfield posting what seems to be blatantly commercial posts - even admitting to spamming some poor sod in one of the posts below.
I don't mind commercial guys posting help - e.g. Bob Rawle - but why is this guy being allowed to post - nothing against him at all - but it basically pisses me off when all he posts is "We have a super safe 30bhp for 4p - please see website link"
Trout
PS Note the usual big grin on my signature is not there

I'm glad to see I am not the only one to get pissed off with the "give me a call" postings from Jamie. Jamie should stick to giving unbiased advice and drop the self promotion band wagon. If he wants to advertise pay for it.

OK, I'll post here seeing my original thread started in Drivetrain was DELETED because we are not allowed to discuss this
>>I agree with Trout
I'm glad there are companies like Jamies are about but blatent plugs are out of order.
If someones starts a thread titled 'where can I get a Dawes device' then fine Jamie, tell that person you stock them, that person has already expressed an interest in a particular product.
But if its titled 'how can I raise boost' then I don't see Jamie replying with impartial advice, I have seen Jamie reply suggesting a product he has an interest in though.
When someone posts about 'which exhaust do you reccommend' I don't see Tuckwood, Croney, Trouser etc shamelessly plugging their product, however I do see those mentioned only replying to threads where the poster has already expressed in interest - i.e. 'will a Scoobysport BB fit my OE centre'.
I hope you get the idea

I am not sure of the reasons why this was deleted, but it would NOT have been because it could not be discussed.
Jamie has emailed me and apologised. Bare in mind that he does contribute to the costs of running scoobynet by paying for a banner advert.
This does not mean that over using this is OK, and I think Jamie had just let it run away with him a bit.
All the best

I dont recall ever posting that, but thanks anyway cos Ive had about 20 calls already with people wanting to put orders in. But you really should be more careful with inaccuracies that you are throwing about.
I find your post very offensive, why shouldn't I respond to a thread, and someone else respond?
I think in future rather than hiding behind a mask you should discuss issues with people involved.
I only generally post threads to answer peoples questions, 90% of the time, if they don't want traders to answer they wouldn't post at all. Everyone I have spoken to feels that I am doing a good job. I never spam people and you might notice (seeing as you obviously are monitoring all threads), I never include prices or much details about any of my products unlike some companies, some of whom dont even advertise on here!
I make my living from this business, and banner advertising is a main source of income. I'm sure you don't have to worry about such things but see my point, I am doing my best to genuinely help.
This is the first negative issue raised on Scoobynet, maybe some people don't like to see people doing ok, but I really do think some apologies are due from you, if you would like to discuss the matter please email me or call me.
I have apologised, not that I really need to and that should be it.

When (at the time) all original threads on the subject were locked (including this one), and subsequent threads relating to the matter deleted then I got the distinct impression that the matter wasn't allowed to be discussed online....
Anyway I wish Jamie all the best, but agree that he sometimes gets 'carried away'

Sorry I do mean it!
Carried away - yes sometimes, but no more than a lot of other people on here.
Can we put this one to bed now please? I have been in business six months and I'm doing my best for everyone, this thing doesn't help.
To everyone who has supported me, RRH, Katana, Brun and Mega thank you very much. To everyone else, I am relatively new to this, and sorry if it causes you so much trouble, but bare with me, I'll watch what Im posting.
Trout, I have heard that you aren't that bad really, so let's not get too excited over this and hopefully next time we come across each other it will be a little more postitive.

OK
I'm going to lock this now. In my mind, if someone apologises, they are saying they know they made an error, and want to make it right.
That is enough for me, and I feel one of the main reasons people hate to say sorry is that other people tend to throw it back in their faces.
Well done to Jamie for standing up and being a gentleman about it.
Like I say, I don't think this will happen again and Jamie has told me he is going to back right off (which is a shame in some ways as I truly believe many of his posts are to be helpful (obviously as well as to generate business)) so I think we should give him a break.
Most of the companies we know and trust that support us with banner adverts have gone through this at the early stages, and it is only the fact that we haven't let scoobynet become a runaway commercialised site (which is GREAT as far as I'm concerned) that we notice these things and they stand out.
I think we should let bygones be gygones on this one and take it from here.
It is not easy starting a new business, and we can all benefit from Jamie providing his services. We all benefit anyway from him spending money on his banner even though he's only just started out.
Think also of the number of companies that come on here and just spam the board without ever taking out a banner. These are deleted and the companies complain that they can't afford a banner advert. Jamie isn't doing that.
All the best
